Too Busy to Bother

Hobbling through the door after a long day of work,  he made a limping beeline to the couch, situated not too far from the door.  He sat and grunted to pull off one work boot and one sock; both removed nearly in one, quick motion.

"What's wrong?  What are you doing?" I asked my husband.

"I've had a rock in my boot all day. 'Never had time. 'Til now." He cupped the culprit in the palm of his hand for me to see.  It was far bigger than I expected.

"It IS a ROCK! How the heck did you work all day without stopping to take it out?  It must have hurt."

"It did," he replied.  "I have a blister now."

Some learn the hard way.  My "boy" hobbled for days.

How often do we ignore something that hurts and then finally give in to it. Your slice made me chuckle this morning. Thanks

Oh my, but I understand too.Sometimes we just ignore the hurt until finally we stop and fix it! Is this a human characteristic? We really don't have to be tough all the time!

I guess he paid the price. Ouch! When a tiny grain of a rock gets in my shoe, I have to get it out. I can't imagine going all day.

This is great! A succinctly told story about a slice of life. Everyone can relate to this. I can...not about rocks in my shoe, but how about that pile of papers I need to file that I don't. If I handled each paper at the time, I would not keep falling under an avalanche of piles most of my life.

Thanks for sharing,
Denise

A true Mainer! Suffer through it until it drives you completely mad. That's how I felt with my socks halfway down my soles in my Bean boots yesterday. I was complaining to Sean how uncomfortable it was and he was so stumped why I didn't just fix them. Too much trouble!!
